One Blessed, Single Plateful
by Deborah Ann Belka © 2020
On Thanksgiving day this year,
before the turkey starts roasting
my thanks, I will be singing
for the dinner, I’ll be hosting.
I will set the dining table,
with gratitude, I feel
before anyone comes
to feast upon the meal.
I will spread hope,
that I’m feeling inside
before I even serve . . .
the food that God supplied.
I will polish up on all,
the reasons I’m thankful
before I even dish up
one blessed, single plateful.
On Thanksgiving day this year,
before the food I present
I will let everyone know . . .
1 Timothy 6:8
“And having food and raiment
let us be therewith content.”
A Thankful, Grateful Heart
by Deborah Ann Belka © 2020
Lord, give me a thankful heart,
one that is appreciative
one that to all Your blessings
is attuned and sensitive.
Let it be a heart,
that sings its daily praise
let it be my heartfelt gratitude
that to You I earnestly raise.
Let me have a heart,
truly thankful for all things
no matter what in my life
You should choose to bring
Let my heart flow with,
the rivers of Your peace
so my appreciation to You
I may continually release.
Lord, give me a thankful heart,
one that is steadily hopeful
let it be the heart of one . . .
who is truly, forever grateful!
1 Chronicle 16:34
” O give thanks unto the Lord;
for he is good; for his mercy
endureth for ever.”

THANKSGIVING PRAYER
Heavenly Father, on Thanksgiving Day
We bow our hearts to You and pray.
We give You thanks for all You’ve done
Especially for the gift of Jesus, Your Son.
For beauty in nature, Your glory we see
For joy and health, friends and family,
For daily provision, Your mercy, and care
These are the blessings You graciously share.
So today we offer this response of praise
With a promise to follow You all of our days.
–Mary Fairchild
A THANKSGIVING DAY PRAYER
Lord, so often times, as any other day
When we sit down to our meal and pray
We hurry along and make fast the blessing
Thanks, amen. Now please pass the dressing
We’re slaves to the olfactory overload
We must rush our prayer before the food gets cold
But Lord, I’d like to take a few minute more
To really give thanks to what I’m thankful for
For my family, my health, a nice soft bed
My friends, my freedom, a roof over my head
I’m thankful right now to be surrounded by those
Whose lives touch me more than they’ll ever possibly know
Thankful Lord, that You’ve blessed me beyond measure
Thankful that in my heart lives life’s greatest treasure
That You, dear Jesus, reside in that place
And I’m ever so grateful for Your unending grace
So please, heavenly Father, bless this food You’ve provided
And bless each and every person invited
Amen!

THANK YOU, LORD, FOR EVERYTHING
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the breath to say
Thank you for another day
Thank you for the eyes to see the world of beauty surrounding me
Thank you for the ears to hear your message of hope loud and clear
Thank you for the hands to serve and far more blessings than I deserve
Thank you for the legs to run the race of life until it’s won
Thank you for the voice to sing
Thank you, Lord, for everything
Amen

THANKSGIVING
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
–Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
WE GATHER TOGETHER
We gather together to ask for the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens his will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing,
Sing praises to his name: He forgets not his own.
Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, and maintaining his kingdom divine;
So from the beginning of the fight, we were winning;
Thou, Lord, wast at our side, All glory be thine!
We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
And pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
Amen
–Traditional Thanksgiving Hymn
(A translation by Theodore Baker: 1851-1934)
WE GIVE THANKS
Our Father in Heaven,
We give thanks for the pleasure
Of gathering together for this occasion.
We give thanks for this food
Prepared by loving hands.
We give thanks for life,
The freedom to enjoy it all
And all other blessings.
As we partake of this food,
We pray for health and strength
To carry on and try to live as You would have us.
This we ask in the name of Christ,
Our Heavenly Father.

Thanksgiving Poems and Poetry by Famous Poets
“Giving Thanks”
by Author Unknown
Giving Thanks
For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home –
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
For the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land,
For the cunning and strength of the workingman’s hand,
For the good that our artists and poets have taught,
For the friendship that hope and affection have brought –
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
For the homes that with purest affection are blest,
For the season of plenty and well-deserved rest,
For our country extending from sea unto sea;
The land that is known as the “Land of the Free” –
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
“Thanksgiving Observance”
by Author Unknown
Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.
“Thanksgiving Time”
by Author Unknown
When all the leaves are off the boughs,
And nuts and apples gathered in,
And cornstalks waiting for the cows,
And pumpkins are safe in the barn and bin,
Then Mother says, “My children dear,
The fields are brown, and autumn flies;
Thanksgiving Day is very near,
And we must make thanksgiving pies!”
“Thanksgiving Comes But Once a Year”
by Thornton W. Burgess
Thanksgiving comes but once a year,
But when it comes it brings good cheer.
For in my storehouse on this day
Are piles of good things hidden away?
Each day I’ve worked from early morn
To gather acorns, nuts, and corn,
Till now I’ve plenty to spare
Without worry or care.
So light of heart the whole day long,
I’ll sing a glad Thanksgiving song.”
Short Thanksgiving Inspirational Poems for Kids, Preschoolers, Elementary Students, Toddlers, Teachers – Thanksgiving Poems that Rhyme
First, we give thanks for
The food that we are given
Then we give thanks for
The houses that we live in,
Then we give thanks for the sun that shines above.
But mostly we give thanks to the people that we love
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving Day!

The year has turned its circle.
The seasons come and go.
The harvest is all gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.
Orchards have shared their treasures.
The fields, their yellow grain.
So open wide the doorway-
Thanksgiving comes again!
Happy thanks day
Thank you to all of you, Happy Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Poems for Family and Friends
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Have a look on Best thanksgiving Poems for Family Friends along with Poems hd images, pictures wallpapers & photos for messages & greeting cards. Friends actually the origin of Thanksgiving celebration is related with the ripening and Harvesting season. Earlier Thanksgiving was a event for expressing our thanks to God for whatever we get from the nature. Though the actual motto of the Thanksgiving festival is still the same but the way to express and things to express have changed a lot. Like earlier days the dinner party is mostly there in every family but the fell to express a simple thanks to god has slightly fallen down. No matter what what the way is the thing that matters the most is that we say thanks to everyone including our Mom & Day and special Thanks to God. In our blog previously we have posted some thanksgiving messages for friend & Family hope you have read those if not yet then please visit.
May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving
Dinner stay off your thighs!

Gobble, gobble, gobble.
Thanksgiving Day is near.
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
What is it that I hear?
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
What is it that I see?
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
It’s a turkey near the tree.
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
It’s orange and brown and red.
Gobble, gobble, gobble.
Put a hat upon his head.

AUTUMN’S SONG
Leave the dishes, desk, and screens.
The world is bright with gold and greens.
Leaves have drifted ankle-deep.
Pumpkins trumble.
Apple spill.
Geese fly south beyond the hill.
Merry blackbirds swoop and play.
On stalks of corn….on stacks of hay.
Autumn breeze has found her song.
Come away and sing a song.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Twas the day before Thanksgiving and all through the town
Shoppers were hustling carrying groceries in bags of brown
Leaves of red and yellow falling to the ground
A touch of frost in the air
And low and behold what did I see
My two lovely daughters fair
Mercy me, mercy my
What are these tears I do fear
Bags were packed and hearts were broken
Not even a goodbye token
No worries my girls it will be alright
We will prepare our dinner and toast to love lost
Let’s get a little tipsy if just for tonight
But not too much for in the morning we need not pay the cost
Cans were opened and packages were emptied completely
Along with the bottle of Belvedere
Salt and pepper if you please
Careful not too much or you’ll sneeze!
Suddenly there was a sound
I jumped to my feet and almost hit the ground
And to my surprise, it was just the alarm clock ringing
It’s four am and the bird must go in!
And all through the house all could be heard was Trace Atkins singing,
Your one hot mama
So wash, cut, peel, and prepare
One more sip do I dare?
With a tear-stained shoulder and a loving heart
I checked on the two broken-hearted gals
As so sweetly they slept
No worries girls, I whisper as I closed the door
Mama will always be your pal no matter what and that will never depart
Back to the bird stuffing and all
I thanked God as I laid down my head or did it fall?
For healthy safe daughters but can you just do one more thing, a simple wish
For Christmas let the rest stay together and find new love for the two
For this Inn is getting way too full!
For Erin and Bonnie
Laugh through the tears

Funny Thanksgiving Poems for Adults, Teachers, and Family
Five Turkeys
Five big turkeys sitting at the gate.
The first one said, “It’s getting late.”
The second one said, “Who goes there”?
The third one said, “There are farmers everywhere.”
The fourth one said, “Let’s run, run, run.”
The fifth one said, “It’s just Thanksgiving fun.”
Then Gobble Gobble went the wind.
And out went the lights.
And the five fat turkeys were out of sight.
_______________
Five Fat Turkeys
Five fat turkeys were sitting on a fence.
The first one said, “I’m so immense.”
The second one said, “I can gobble at you.”
The third one said, “I can gobble, too.”
The fourth one said, “I can spread my tail.”
The fifth one said, “Don’t catch it on a nail.”
A farmer came along and stopped to say
“Turkeys look best on Thanksgiving Day.”
_______________
Five Little Turkeys
Five little turkeys sitting on the ground
The first one said “Oh, my we’re getting around”
The second one said “I smell a pumpkin pie”
The third one said, “But we won’t cry!”
The fourth one said “Let’s run, let’s run”
The fifth one said, “Thanksgiving isn’t fun!”
Then in came the farmer and he turned on the light
and the five little turkeys ran out of site!!!
_______________
A Turkey Speaks
I have never understood
why anyone would
roast the turkey
and shuck the clams
and crisp the croutons
and shell the peas
and candy the sweets
and compote the cranberries
and bake the pies
and clear the table
and wash the dishes
and fall into bed
when they could sit back
and enjoy a hamburger.
_______________
At Grandma’s House
I like the taste of turkey
Any time throughout the year
But it never
seems to taste as good
As when Thanksgiving’s here.
Could be it’s all the trimmings
That is cooked with it to eat-
But I think it’s
eating at Grandma’s house
That makes it such a treat!
_______________
One fat turkey went strutting by
He shook his feathers and he winked his eye
He flapped his wings and his head gave a wobble
He looked at me and said, “Gobble, gobble, gobble”.
_______________
No Turkey
My father hates Thanksgiving.
It’s all about the stuffing.
He says it smells like day-old socks.
So on his plate goes nothing.
He grits his teeth and goes to bed.
It gives my mother grief.
I think next year, this holiday,
instead, we’ll eat roast beef!
_______________
Turkey Warning
Tell me, Mr. Turkey,
Don’t you feel afraid
When you hear us talking
‘Bout the plans we’ve made?
Can’t you hear us telling
How we’re going to eat
Cranberries and stuffing
With our turkey meat?
Turkey, heed my warning:
Better fly away;
Or you will be sorry
On Thanksgiving day.
_______________
The Thanksgiving Turkey
The turkey is a bird
That speaks not a word
Even when the axman steps into view
That turkey will grace your table
If he is able
No matter what else he might have wanted to do
And that turkey will be delish
Especially when placed on my dish
Even if it takes two days to stew.
